Pick a game, then choose where to measure from. From the server it sends real ICMP packets to that game's region. From your connection it times your own line to this server and adds the server's leg, since a browser cannot send ICMP itself.

Average ping matters less than jitter and loss. A steady 90 ms plays better than a 40 ms line that spikes.
In order of how much they actually help. The first three are worth more than everything below them combined.
Packet loss is a fault, not a speed problem. Find where packets die, then fix that one hop.
